THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

An elderly gentleman passed his granddaughter's room one night and overheard her repeating the alphabet in an oddly reverent way.

What on earth are you up to?" he asked.

"I'm saying my prayers," explained the little girl. "But I can't think of exactly the right words tonight, so I'm just saying all the letters. God will put them together for me, because He knows what I'm thinking."

God wants that which is good for His children. In order for Him to give that which is good, believers are required to develop a genuine relationship with Him. Perhaps we should develop a relationship like the little girl above, and allow God to put things in perspective.

Believers are no longer "under the law" for salvation. We are "under the blood" of Christ. We are "adopted" into the family of God, and become "children of God." Thus, we should have a relationship loves God as "Father," and we live as obedient children.

We are not slaves, we are children. As children, we should desire to obey our Father's smallest desire! We are to seek BEING as our example: Jesus!

Should we not say in our hearts, "Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight"?

Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." This is the manner in which we express our love for Him. No, we are not "under the law," but living by the law does express our attitude of servitude.

What? Shall we sacrifice a bull or a lamb? No! Jesus is our only living sacrifice!

But shall we "love thy neighbor as thyself?" Yes! That is an exemplification of Jesus Himself.
Shall we attend church on the day expected? Yes! That was the "custom" of our Lord.
Shall we study the Word of God and apply the principles to our lives? Yes! For that was the manner of our Lord.

Let us indeed study the "law" and ask God to make us walk in their "paths." We don't follow the law because it is necessary for salvation. We follow the law because it is an expression of our love for our Father. We "delight" in doing His will.

Love ya,
Bruce
