THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Eight-year-old Sally came down for breakfast. Before the meal, she said, "Good morning, Mom." Then she sat down, and bowed her head for prayer.

She thanked God for the meal, for Mom, for Dad, and for a beautiful day.

Sally's Mom asked, "Sally, why do you think it's a beautiful day when it is raining outside?"

Quickly Sally said, "Mom, we should never judge a day by it's WEATHER."

1 Sam 12:14 If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:
(KJV)

Faith is not always reasonable. That's why we don't make decisions with our minds. We think, rationalize, and reason with our minds. Faith is not always exciting. That's why we do not make decisions with our bodies. Our bodies and emotions become excited, and we might make a wrong decision.

We make decisions with our spirit. That is the place where our reasoning and emotions are fed, and we decide according to truth. Every decision is made with the spirit - the will.

For instance, we may see a beautiful cake at the church social. Our body says, "I WANT a piece of that cake." Our mind says, "The calories are very high!" But it is our spirit which determines whether we shall eat the piece of cake.

It is the will/spirit of our souls that determines our course of action in life: whether or not we shall follow the world or follow Christ. "Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season." ((Hebrews 11:25))

It is a decision of our spirit to "fear," or give holy reverence to the Lord.
It is a decision of our spirit to "serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD."

It is also the decision of our spirit that determines the JOY we have in this day.
Like little Sally said, "We cannot judge the day by it's weather."
We should judge the day by our whether!

Love ya,
