THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Janie was spending the night with her grandmother.
As grandchildren are, Janie very often asked "WHY?"

At bedtime, grandmother was taking her medications.
Janie asked, "Grandmother, why do you take so many pills?"

Grandmother answered, "Well, I take the yellow ones for my liver; the pink ones are for my stomach; the black ones are for my heart; and the red ones are to direct traffic!"

Ecclesiastes 6:11-12
11 Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
12 For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

There are many bitter pills we must swallow in this earthly life.
One of them is: after all we've done or will do, how are we "better?"

After all, unless the Lord comes first, we shall die.
It is the decree of God due to our sin.

And though we may live prosperously, our life is short.
Indeed, it seems as though our lives are as a "shadow," which is here a moment, then gone.

We are what we are because God has made us that way.
And no one can "contend" with why God made us as we are.

Man was created to have fellowship with God. When man sinned and broke that fellowship, God gave certain consequences. One of those consequences is that our desires are never fulfilled in this earth! There are many things in the earth that increase desire, but none of them will satisfy the soul!

It is not "why," but "WHO" should we ask the questions of life.

Indeed, "WHO" can tell us how to live life the way we should in order that we receive satisfaction from it?
"WHO" can tell us what our end will be after the "shadow" of life is over?

Only our Lord!
Let us then turn to Him daily in prayer and obedience.

Love ya,
Bruce
