THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Harry found a grandfather clock marked 25% off.
It was exactly what he wanted, so he paid for it and had it delivered
the next day.

When it was delivered he set it up in a prominent place in the living room.
You can imagine Harry’s surprise when he discovered that it ran slow!
No matter how he adjusted it, the clock lost 15 minutes every hour.

Returning to the clock store, Harry complained to the manager
"The grandfather clock I bought loses 15 minutes every hour."

The clerk replied, "Well, what did you expect? It was clearly marked
25% off!"

Light from the Word.

Our expectations of life and people don't always meet the standards
which we'd like to see.
Life is sometimes cruel.
If we're looking to the world to meet our expectations, we'll be sorely
disappointed.

But if we look to Jesus to fulfill our expectations, we have HOPE!

In Christ:
we may constantly draw on the "bank of faith;"
we may see our needs met by God's lovingkindness;
we may have expectations completely beyond this world!

Our expectations from the world are:
to attend school when we reach the age of five,
to drive when we reach the age of 16,
to graduate high school when we are 17 or 18,
to graduate college, if we can,
to find a good job, and
to (hopefully) reach retirement age and "take it easy,"

BUT THEN WHAT?

This world offers no more!
But Christ offers eternal life with Him in a place called heaven!

Don't wait upon the world, or upon people for your expectations.
Wait upon CHRIST!

Love ya!
