PSALM
CHAPTER 28
1 A Psalm of David.
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
God is the "Rock" of our salvation, and the ROCK of all eternity. By Him all things were made, and all things are sustained by Him.
Without God, we are NOTHING. Without God we are DEAD, "like them that go down into the pit."
Therefore, we should plead earnestly with God to HEAR us when we cry out in distress in this life. He is our ONLY salvation from trouble and death.
3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
5 Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
The Christian is always surrounded by people who devise wickedness. Most of the people of the world want to gain something for themselves, and have very little regard for morality or people of morality.
Therefore, our desire should be that God would protect and keep us from such folk, and if they do not repent that God would indeed keep His people safe from them.
6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.
The word "blessed" here is quite different from the one used in Psalm 1:1. The word "blessed" in Psalm 1:1 is 'esher, which means blissfully happy.
The word "blessed" here is barak, which means to kneel and praise God with adoration.
We should indeed praise God for saving us from wickedness and from wicked people. God is ALWAYS working to do that!
He will SAVE His people, and He will save them FORVER (verse 9).
CHAPTER 29
1 A Psalm of David.
Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
What ever strength or honor we might receive belongs to God. He is the source of all power and strength, because without Him we would be nothing.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
God's VOICE brought dry land out of the waters. The word for waters here means filthy. God's voice is powerful enough to speak upon the "waters" of humanity and break even the strongest ("cedars").
7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
Just by speaking God can divide the flames of fire (verse 7).
Just by speaking God can "shake" the forests (verse 8).
Just by speaking God can cause the deer to have their calves.
Therefore, everyone who trusts God should give Him praise and glory (verse 9).
10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
The LORD sits on TOP of the sea of humanity and is KING over ALL!
He can give STRENGTH to His people and He can give PEACE to His people.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
The LORD is the "strength" and "shield" for His people. It is only in Him that we are saved from wickedness.
