Max, the young Irish Setter puppy was playing in the sunshine of the back yard.
All of a sudden, he lept forward and began chasing something.
It was the shadow of a bird which was flying over the yard.

As the shadow of the bird entered the shadow of a tree, it disappeared.
Max stopped, frozen, standing in the shadow of the tree.

With his feet digging into the ground, his nose pointing in the direction he last saw the shadow,
and his tail straight behind him, he waited for the shadow to reappear.

One might say, Max gave up the sunshine for the shadow.

Ps 50:1-5
1 A psalm of Asaph, The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken,
and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him,
and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

God HAS shined! (see verse 2)

His Holy Person SHINED in Jesus.
God's mercy and grace SHINED at Calvary.
His eternal glory SHINED in the resurrection and ascension.

Today, God's promise of eternal glory to man SHINES
in His invitation for us to live in His "light." (John 1:1-4)

But we chase shadows!

We spend so much energy for something that looks good, feels good,
or appeals to our natural senses just the right way.
But there's only a shadow of life in the physical things of the world.

The Lord of Glory will soon come again!
He will come to "judge!"

Instead of chasing shadows, let us live in His "light" today!
Let us live FOR Him, speaking ABOUT Him, telling others of His love, forgiveness and eternal life.

When the enemy tosses shadows your way, remember to live in the light of Christ.
Pray, study the Word, give attention to purposeful evangelism and ministry.

While we live under the sun, let us live in the "Sonshine."

Love ya!
