Do you remember going on camping trips?
Some of you can probably relate to this short story.

When I was a kid in Royal Ambassadors, our church counselors took us camping several times.
I remember some wonderful times.

However, one night, we had our sleeping bags all rolled out next to a GRAVEYARD!
This was a SCARY time!

Long after the campfire, Bible study, and testimonials, the counselor realized we were getting SLEEPY.

It was then he began to teach us a song:
"Did you ever think, when the hearse rolls by,
that you might be the next to die?
They'll wrap you up in a nice clean sheet,
And put you down about six feet deep.
All will go well for about a week,
And then the coffin will begin to leak."

Right about there, I was gettin' a lil SHAKY!

Then, the next line!
"The worms crawl in, and the worms crawl out!"

YUP! That was IT!
Those words made my sleepy body come ALIVE!
I rolled up my sleeping bag!
I was going HOME!

Eph 2:4-5
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

God is overflowing in "mercy!"
He is so "rich" with "mercy" that He forms a channel by which it can be imparted to others. That channel is "grace."
Grace is the manner of action through which God sends us His offer of forgiveness and faith.

Eph 2:9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

We were "dead" to God in "sins."
We were totally unfeeling toward Him because of our selfishness.

But God acted in the manner of grace to reveal His "mercy!"
Rom 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The life Christ gave on Calvary was holiness and perfection.
He gave that life in grace for our UNholiness and IMperfection!

When we receive Christ, the channel of God's grace, we are "quickened"!
We are made ALIVE to Him and the richness of His mercy!

Mercy brings forgiveness and faith!
Salvation is not so much "I am saved," as it is "I am BEING saved!"

When I was "dead" in sin, God convicted me of sin, convinced me of Christ as Savior, and called me to His wonderful salvation! And, after having initially received salvation, God "quickens" me to LIVE in salvation!

Each day He convicts me of sin, convinces me all is paid in Christ, and calls me to His loving side in the richness of His mercy!
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Are you "quickened" by Christ?

Love ya!
