HI!

A Jewish businessman in Chicago sent his son to Israel for college. When the son returned, he said, "Papa, I had a great time in Israel. By the way, I converted to Christianity."

The businessman was a little upset and decided to call his friend and ask what to do. The friend said, "Funny you should ask. I sent my son to Israel, and he too converted to Christianity."

They decided to call the Rabbi and ask what to do. He said, "Funny you should ask. I too sent my son to Israel, and he too converted to Christianity."

They all got together to pray and ask God what to do. He said, "Funny you should ask. I too sent my Son to Israel and......."

Matt 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

When Jesus came to earth, He submitted Himself to the laws of God governing man. He was even baptized! Though He needed no repentance, He was baptized to exemplify His full surrender to the will of God in His life.

When Jesus was baptized, the voice of God spoke and said He was WELL PLEASED!
Well pleased with what? That His Son should give up His life for peple dead in sins? That His Son should die for mankind made of dust? That His Son should squander His glory in heaven to become a man and offer them salvation? YES!

God was pleased because what Jesus did was a demonstration of the LOVE of God! Love is what God is all about. And love is what Christians are all about. Love abdicates the "Who I am" and gets down to the "What do you need?"

How do we receive His love? By coming to the cross and dying to self so we can be what He wants. When we come to that cross we receive REST, EDUCATION and THE JOY OF LIFE.

We receive rest because Jesus takes away our burden of life - SIN!
We receive education because we enroll in the learning institution of Jesus Himself. There we learn that we are supposed to grow in Christ and become more like Him.
We receive the joy of life by knowing that this world will only have us a little time, and then we'll be in heaven forever with Christ.

Yes, coming to Jesus is receiving His love. And love abdicates the "Who I am," and gets down to the "What do you need?"

Are you there?

Love ya,
Bruce
