THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A small boy is sent to bed by his father.

Five minutes later...."Da-ad...."
"What?"
"I'm thirsty. Can you bring a drink of water?"
"No. You had your chance. Lights out."
Five minutes later:"Da-aaaad....."
"WHAT?"
"I'm THIRSTY. Can I have a drink of water??"
"I told you NO!" If you ask again, I'll have to spank you!!"
Five minutes later......"Daaaa-aaaad....."
"WHAT!"
"When you come in to spank me, can you bring a drink of water?"

SCRIPTURE__________________________________

Nah 1:3-7
3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

THOUGHT____________________________________

Children can be trying, very trying!
It takes great patience to keep from applying the board of knowledge to the seat of learning often.
And, sometimes, to tell the truth, a little disciplinary action is necessary.

God's children are no different.
Sometimes they are very trying!
Have you ever felt that you were trying God's patience?

It's good to know that we have a patient God!
He is indeed, "slow to anger."
And we should be very thankful that He is, because He is also a God "great in power!"

God created the world.
And God controls the atmospheric conditions of the world.
"Who can abide in the fierceness of his anger?"
Certainly not we feeble humans.

God is not only patient, but He is "good!"
God is good ALL the time!
He looks after the welfare of His children in loving care.
If God were less patient and good, He would have destroyed this sinful world long ago!

When we face "trouble," God is our "strong hold."
By keeping our thoughts upon Him, His goodness, mercy and love; we find a tower of strength in which to reside.

And God "knows them that trust in Him!"
He knows the difference between those who are trying, and those who are just trying!

Be sure that God marks His enemies.
And in the final day, He will have the final say.

But be sure also, Christian, that today God KNOWS you, is GOOD to you, and is PATIENT with you!
Donít be trying Ė be trying!

Love ya!
