Little Sam was behaving badly.
His mother sent him to his room.

She said, "You pray that the Lord will help you behave better.
And, don't come out until you do."

In just a few moments, Sam came out of his room.
Mom asked, "Did you pray that the Lord will help you behave?"

Sam said, "Well, I prayed that the Lord would help you
put up with me."

1 Tim 3:14-16
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave
thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and ground of the truth.

Light from the WORD.

In 1Timothy, Paul wrote some very specific instructions about the church.
In Chapter one, he said, about those instructions:
"....that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
Holding faith, and a good conscience;"

In Chapter two, Paul spoke about the need to pray for all men,
especially those in authority.

And, here - in our text today -- Paul says these instructions are to help us
"behave" in the house of God.

Here are three things we should remember about the church:
1) It is the "house of God;"
2) It was established by "the LIVING God;"
3) It must be the "pillar and ground of truth" in the world.

It is not MY church, nor is it YOUR church;
it is not even OUR church!
It is GOD'S church!

And we must behave in the church as God is our PARENT.
We are to do His will as expressed in the Word of God.

We are to evangelize the lost,
educate the saved according to the Word,
and BE the "pillar and ground of truth" in an evil world.

Are you behaving?

Love ya!
