THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A very rich young man was giving his testimony in church.
He stated that after obtaining his first job, he went to church the next Sunday.
The preacher preached on surrendering all that you are and have to the Lord.
That morning, the young man had $40 in his pocket from his first week’s paycheck.
He realized that salvation began with surrender.
So, he gave himself AND the $40.
Then he stated he believed that God blessed him because of that; and
that was why he attributed all his wealth to God.
The young man went and sat down by an elderly lady.
She leaned over and whispered, “You really believe that?”
He answered, "Yes, Ma’am.”
She said, “Then DO IT AGAIN!”
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Knowledge is the storage of factual information.
Wisdom is what you DO with that information.
Factual information of God leads to understanding.
Coming to hold God in reverential awe is the “beginning of wisdom.”
It is the STARTING place.
The ability to CORRECTLY ACT upon factual information only comes from surrender to Christ as Lord.
Jesus said, “Wisdom is justified of (exhibited in) her children.” (Matt. 11:19)
After beginning at the starting place, adding factual information of “the Holy” brings genuine “understanding.”
Therefore, AFTER having surrendered to Christ as Lord,
then LEARNING MORE of Him brings understanding of how we should live.
And, how can we learn MORE of Him?
Through Bible study.
In Galatians 3:1-3, Paul asks a question.
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
If you have BEGUN in “wisdom,” CONTINUE in knowing more of Him!
