A salesman of an all-purpose healing liquid had gathered a crowd back in the days of the "covered wagon."
He was insistent in his sales pitch.

He said, "I've been selling this product for twenty years, and no one has ever complained of its use. What does that prove?"

Someone from the crowd answered, "Dead men tell no tales?"

Eph 2:1-7
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

After having experienced metamorphosis, the caterpillar is totally changed.
He no longer gives witness to being a "worm," but gives witness to being a butterfly!

Christians are TRANSFORMED by the love, mercy, and power of God. We are changed from "deadness" to REALLIFE!

To be "dead" is to be without life.
We were without life until Christ "quickened" us from the deadness of our sins and gave us life.
REAL LIFE, therefore, is being saved from the "deadness" of sin, or separation from God, and to be raised to communion with God.

The dead in "trespasses and sin" cannot experience or give testimony to the love and life in Christ.

Truly, "dead men tell no tales."
Those who have not WITNESSED Christ's "quickening" power certainly cannot give testimony to it.

But to the saved, FAITH is the dynamic action of God's Holy Spirit within us, allowing and helping us to give testimony to God's love, mercy, grace and power.

HOWEVER: "Just over 70 percent of churches are plateaued or declining in membership in the Southern Baptist Convention, according to North American Mission Board statistics."
Also, that report indicates though we had more baptisms (an increase of only .70%), church membership STILL declined.
And far too many churches reported ZERO baptisms!

To me, this indicates a lack of personal lifestyle evangelism on the part of members.

Today, Christians, determine to be QUICKENED and not DEAD!
Allow God's transforming power to work in and through us and "shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Love ya!
