The young couple invited the pastor over for Sunday dinner.

When the pastor arrived, the couple were busy preparing the lunch, and asked him to sit at the table with their 5-year-old son, Tim.

The pastor sat down, and began talking to the boy.
He asked how old he was, and the boy replied, "I'm 5."

Then the pastor asked, "Tim, do you know what we're having for lunch?"

The boy said, "Goat."

The pastor asked, "Goat? Really, how do you know?"

The boy said, "Well, I heard Mom say this morning,
'May as well have the old goat for dinner today as any other day.'"

Jeremiah 1:17-19
17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

During the time of the destructive forces coming to converge on Jerusalem, God told Jeremiah that he should be steadfast.
He was to "gird up his loins."
He was to prepare himself for HARD WORK and spiritual battle.

God assured Jeremiah by saying he would be like an "iron pillar" as he prophesied against the kings of Judah and their appointed leaders.

God also assured Jeremiah that this task to which he was assigned would NOT be EASY! (see verse 19).
The political leaders of the day would "fight against" him.
Indeed, Jeremiah would suffer greatly for giving the DIRECT and TRUE Word from God!

But through it all, Jeremiah was to remain STEADFAST.
God promised His PRESENCE to keep him alive until the end of the task.

My friends, THIS is what Christianity is all about!
We have a DIRECT Word from God, and a TRUE Word from God in the Bible.
We are to proclaim the Gospel of salvation and the consequences of not surrendering to Jesus.
It is a "BATTLE," and we must "gird up our loins," preparing for HARD WORK!

For the majority, people (and particularly most political leaders) will despise the DIRECT and TRUE Word of God.
But SOME will repent and surrender!
And the battle and hard work is worth all the effort we can muster if only a FEW will be saved!

Gird up your loins!
Arise and speak!

Love ya,
