DAILY DEVOTION

HI!

Many years ago there was a TV show called,
"The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis."

Dwayne Hickman played a clean cut young man called Dobie Gillis.
And opposite him was Bob Denver who played a
scraggly beatnick named Maynard Crebs.

Anytime someone approached the subject of WORK,
(Denver), playing Maynard would say
"WOOOO RK?"

The implication was that Maynard didn't LIKE work.

1 Cor 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye
know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

LIGHT from the WORD.

The word "work" is translated from the Greek ergon,
and means labor, or exertion.
The word "labour" is translated from the Greek kopos,
and literally means toil, or weariness.

What IS the Christian's "work of the Lord?"

PRAYER --
God is not an "errand boy"!
We should WORK in prayer to PRAISE Him, and PLEAD for
HIS will to be done in our lives.
The stronger our prayer life, the stronger our spirit.

BIBLE STUDY --
The Bible is God's revelation of Himself to the Christian.
In it He reveals His love for us, His character, His rules of
conduct, and our role in His plan.
The more you LEARN, the more you GROW in a relationship
with Christ.

WORSHIP --
Both formal worship (in church) and personal worship
are ESSENTIAL parts of the Christian's life.
No, it's not always easy; sometimes it's WORK, LABOR!

FELLOWSHIP --
Getting along with others requires WORK!
Anybody knows relationships can become strained.
The WORK is KEEPING the relationship!

WITNESSING --
Sharing the Gospel of Christ with others.
We do that by exemplification, and by verbal testimony.
It's not easy -- it's WORK!

One thing we should always remember about our
"work of the Lord:"
That our "labour is NOT in vain!"
For God will bless our WORK with REST!

Are you “stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding
in the work of the Lord?”

Love ya!
