At the beginning of a Winter Bible Study, the speaker was introduced by the pastor.
After giving a few facts of the speaker's life, he said, "Now, here is Dr........"
The speaker stood and said, "While I thank my friend for such a flowery introduction,
may it be known that I am no "doctor." I'm not even a good nurse!"
1 Cor 2:3-5
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
LIGHT from the WORD.
If ever I heard a great preacher it was Paul.
One has only to read the book of Romans to see what a masterful
understanding of Biblical doctrine was in Paul's sermons.
Yet, there are very few "flowery" words in Paul's writings!
Perhaps one of the most educated and able orators of the first century
used "plain" words to teach and preach the message of salvation!
A Christian does not have to use great oratory to share the Gospel!
PLAIN words will do just fine.
Remember, if God has SAVED you, He has EQUIPPED you!
Paul's words demonstrate the power of God's Holy Spirit to use the simple
message of salvation as a sword and change hearts!
It's not the messenger that's important, it's the message!
The messenger (preacher) is simply an "ambassador" of his Master,
the Lord, Jesus Christ.
The messenger only says what God has already said!
When the message of salvation is spoken in plain, easy to understand words,
God uses that message to change lives!
Keep in mind, Christian, you ARE and "ambassador for Christ!"
If you are a Christian, tell someone the good news of Jesus.
Be a messenger.
God will use the message.
