THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
The scenes with the submarine and the giant octopus in the movie
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea had kept Mark wide-eyed.
He couldn't wait to tell his friend John about the movie!
In the middle of the telling, John interrupted Mark,
"What caused the submarine to sink?
With a look of incredulity Mark replied, "Dad said it was the 20,000 leaks!
All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the
place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
This passage of Scripture deals with our relationship with God
and our relationship with others.
First, no matter how much we bring to God in prayer, He is never full!
What goes up to God in salty tears, comes back with fresh insight
We send Him our problems: He sends us joy and hope.
Our Lord is a tremendous "receiver," and also a generous distributor of love.
"...of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."
Second, we are to be the same with others.
We are not "in tune" with God if we only take and do not share.
It is our duty to share with others the benevolent grace of God which
we constantly receive.
If the ocean never returned water through the rivers, we would dry up and die!
Let us not follow such a destructive path as to live selfishly.
Indeed, let us "...know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." (Eph 3:19)
And let us share His "fullness" with others daily!
Are you a "receiver" of God's love and grace?
Then be a "distributor" also!
