Josh 5:13-15
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho,
that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold,
there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn
in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him,
Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD
am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth,
and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto
his servant?
15 And the captain of the LORD's host said unto Joshua,
Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou
standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

LIGHT from the WORD.

When we read an incident in the Old Testament like this one,
we might ask, "What does this mean for ME?"

Basically, in (See Ex. 3:5) God told Moses the same thing.

As the people of Israel approached Jericho, Joshua saw a "man."
That "man" was a theophany....a manifestation of the LORD.
He was a visible presence of the Lord Jesus in the Old Testament!

This "man" was dressed as a warrior!
Naturally, Joshua wanted to know if this person was going to
fight in the battle WITH Israel or AGAINST Israel.

But our Lord told Joshua that He didn't come to take sides,
He came to TAKE OVER!

Notice that when Joshua realized the "man" was the
"Captain" of all the Lord's forces, he IMMEDIATELY
dropped to his face on the ground.
And the first question out of his mouth reflected surrender;
“What saith my Lord unto His servant?” (vs 14 above)

Jesus is the only "Man" Who ever won the battle against sin!
Without His command we certainly lose the battle!

We must surrender to Christ ONCE to be "accepted in the
beloved"
! (See Eph. 1:6)
But we must surrender to Christ DAILY to be effective warriors
in the battle against evil in this world! (See Luke 9:23)

REMEMBER: Christ didn't come to take sides
in our battle with evil.
He came to TAKE OVER!

Be EFFECTIVE in the battle against evil in this world.
Let Jesus TAKE OVER:
Your thoughts,
Your words,
Your actions,
Your LIFE!

Love ya!
