DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"Be FILLED"

"I've Never Made A Fortune
and It's Probably Too Late Now
but I Don't Worry About That Much
i'm Happy Anyhow
and As I Go Along Life's Journey
i'm Reaping Better Than I Sowed
i'm Drinking From My Saucer
'cause My Cup Has Overflowed"

(Song: Drinking From My Saucer,
Written by: John Paul Moore Aug. 15,
1934 - June 26, 2025)

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Eph. 5:18
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is
excess; but be filled with the Spirit.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

Drinking alcoholic beverages to excess
will result in drunkeness.

As Christians, our goal should be to
become "FILLED with the Spirit" of God!

The words "be filled" are translated from
the Greek pleroo.
It means to cram full.

In the song lyrics above, the idea of
drinking from the saucer is drawn because
the cup has OVERFLOWED, or been
filled to overflowing.

The next 3 verses of Eph. 5, tell us HOW
to be overflowing with the Spirit of God.
Eph. 5:19-21
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and
spiritual song, singing and making melody
in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thank always for all things unto
God and the Father in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in
the fear of God.

Ways to be OVERFLOWING with God's
Spirit:
1. Quote or sing aloud the songs that
glorify our Lord;
2. Giving thanks to God for His intervention
by Jesus' sacrificial death as our
substitute;
3. Allowing ourselves to be subordinate to
others in kindness.

OVERFILL your daily life with God's Spirit!

Another song that relates that fact:
"Let Others SEE Jesus In YOU!"
(Written by: B.B. McKinney)

Let your words and actions exhibit the
overflowing gratitude you have for Christ!

Love ya!
