THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Question of the day:
Whom do YOU say Jesus is?
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said,
Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
LIGHT from the WORD.
They answered, "The son of David."
Then, Jesus asked, "How then doth David in spirit call him Lord,
saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?" (Matt 22:43-45)
Jesus was challenging the Pharisees interpretation of the Scripture.
They believed the Christ would only be a glorified man!
They did not believe the Christ would come as God IN a man!
Earlier though, Jesus had asked the disciples whom THEY
thought He was.
Peter answered, in our Scripture above
"Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God!"
It was prophesied in the Old Testament that the Savior
would be God come in flesh!
Jesus is God IN a man.
He is fully God, yet fully man!
Unless He were, He would not be offering:
God's sinLESSness for our sinFULness,
God's PERFECTNESS for our IMPERFECTION.
Jesus is the CHRIST!
THAT'S why we call it CHRISTmas!!
