THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

(Thanks to Nina for this one.)

Mom was in the kitchen cooking.
Her 4-year-old daughter came in saying she had a bad headache.

Mom told her to get the aspirin from the nightstand by her bed.

A few moments later, the 4-year-old came back, trying vainly to open the bottle.
Mom explained, it was a "child-proof" cap, and opened it.

Her daughter asked, "But how does it know it's ME?"

SCRIPTURE_____________________________________________________

Ezek 33:30-32
30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

Ezekiel prophesied and many gathered to listen.
But they would not be obedient to "the Word that cometh forth from the LORD."

He was like a "very lovely song;" attractive.
Still, the people with hearts hardened, sought their own pleasures.
They would not be obedient to "the Word that cometh forth from the LORD."

Has Christianity become a "child-proof" cap in America?
What Christ offers is indeed attractive.
The personal eternal peace of Christ is offered.
But hardened hearts, seeking worldly pleasures, cause obedience to Him to become a "child-proof" cap!

Samuel once told King Saul, "Behold, to OBEY is better than sacrifice." (1Samuel 15:22)

To receive the benefits of the aspirin, one must follow the directions to open the cap.
To receive the benefits of Christianity, one must follow the directions of CHRIST!

When America learns to throw out everything that exalts itself against God;
and, to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; (2Cor 10:5);
THEN, Christ will open the cap!

One cannot receive pain relief from sin
without first surrendering to the pain RELIEVER!

Love ya,
Bruce
