An older man (90) got the town cobbler to make him a pair of shoes.
When he went to pick them up, he complained about the haphazard
and shoddy workmanship.

The cobbler knew the man was old, and he really hadn't taken a lot of
time making the shoes.
But, he said, "Sir, you are 90 years old. You'll probably not outlive those
shoes, so why be concerned?"

The old man quipped back quickly, "Son, you don't keep up very good!
Don't you know that statistics show there are very few people over
90 that die?!"

John 15:19
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own:
but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you
out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Rom 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

As Christians, we enjoy dwelling on the absoluteness of our Lord's love.
He has "chosen" us from "out of the world!"
What a wonderful thought, that God loved us enough to CHOOSE us!

First though, lest we esteem ourselves too highly, let us remember that
God determined to choose ANYONE who wants to be saved!
Rom. 10:13 says, "WHOSOEVER shall call upon the Name of the Lord
shall be saved!"

And let us remember what it takes for us to receive His "sonship."
Luke 9:23 tells us, "If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."

Being CHOSEN depends upon SURRENDER!
Except He be LORD, He cannot be SAVIOR!

Secondly, let us dwell upon being CHOSEN.
We are chosen because of God's LOVE.
Rom. 5:8 says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

God demonstrated the extreme nature of His love, and THAT is what
attracted us to Him.

Third, let us dwell upon what God's love does IN us.
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life."

Because of His love for us, we experience a change upon surrender to Christ.
(2Corinthians 5:17)
That change assures us that we HAVE everlasting life ALREADY!
Our sins are washed away in His precious blood; our names are written in
His non-erasable book; we are sealed in His Holy Spirit.
Therefore, the power of God's love is continually flowing toward and in the

Finally, let us consider how His love gives us CONQUERING instead of
Remember that Caleb was over 85 years old when he conquered the mountain
in Joshua 14:6-15.
Ya might wanna read that story!
There were GIANTS there.
They HATED Caleb!
But Caleb said, in effect, "With God on my side, even at my age, I can
CONQUER those giants!"(Loose translation)

So when the world treats ya dirty, Christians; and it will, don't tremble and hide.
Stand firm in the power of God's love, and conquer your giants and mountains!

With a future like this
we are "...more than conquerors through him that loved us." (Rom 8:37)

Love ya!
