THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Skydiving is a good depiction of humanity.

We begin by thinking we are far above it all.

Then we start looking for a way to be saved!

Luke 15:2
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

Who is this the elite ridicule? He is God incarnate! The Eternal Creator Who became flesh "and dwelt among us." He is the Holy One from Whom angels hid their faces! He is the God-man Who stood above all men, perfect, sinless, and undefiled!

What is it for which He is ridiculed? For receiving sinners and communing with them. How can we describe such love? It is beyond the language of men! Such love can only be described in the Person of Jesus Christ.

He, the Creator God, against Whom is all sin, was the One offended by all mankind. Yet the offended One "took upon Himself the form of a servant," suffered and died in our place! His vicarious death displays the perfect offer of forgiveness.

And for what reason will He receive sinful men? That He might not only forgive, but also cleanse, justify, regenerate, and return all who come to Him. He takes us from being sons of sin to being sons of God! "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12)

PRAISE GOD! Christ "receiveth" sinful men!

He pardons and welcomes just as did the prodigal's father.
Upon us He places His own "robe of righteousness."
He "seals" us with the signet ring of His Holy Spirit, preserving our souls to the eternal glory of His own.
He prepares a great supper of which we shall partake continually - communing with Him eternally.
He makes us "ambassadors" in His service to reach out to all sinners with this wonderful offer of salvation.

This fact is still true today and let us sing the anthem: Christ Receiveth Sinful Men!

And let us pray and labor that sinful men might receive HIM!

Love ya,
Bruce
