THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

When they were young, our children seemed to always sleep late on Christmas Day.
They were excited Christmas Eve, but the next morning they would keep sleeping if we didn't wake them.

So Ann had a bright idea.
She had a bell someone had given her for Christmas.
Early on Christmas morning, she would run into the children's bedrooms, jump on their bed and ring the bell.
All the while she was shouting, "Merry Christmas!! Santa has come!
Ann did that all the years our children were home.
It became a tradition.

When our son married, he brought his new wife to spend Christmas Eve with us.
Imagine her shock when Christmas morning came!

Luke 2:8-11
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Imagine the shock of the shepherds on a quiet night in the field when the angel appeared and announced Jesus' birth!
Can't you just see their jaws drop as the angels begin to sing:
"GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST, AND ON EARTH PEACE, GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN!"?

The night turned bright with the glory of the Lord!
The voice spoke with assurance and comfort!
The angels sang with glorious harmony!

The message was: "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord!"

The Savior! He came to save us from sin and separation from God!
The Savior! He came to save us from eternal death!
He is CHRIST -- "The Anointed One!" THE One and ONLY Who can save!
He is the LORD! The Creator has come into creation!

He came bearing GIFTS.
He came to make PEACE with God for all mankind.
He came to demonstrate GOOD WILL to all men from God.

Only God could forgive our sins against God.
Only God could give us His righteousness.
Only God could grant us eternal life when we deserved eternal death.

The CHRIST has come!
No wonder they call it CHRISTmas!

MERRY CHRISTmas!

Love ya!
