THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
When Jesus comes, the shadows depart.
(Author unknown, inscription on a Scottish castle.)
“Sun of my soul! Thou Saviour dear,
It is not night if Thou be near.”
1 To the chief Musician, Al-tas'-chith, Mich'-tam of David,
when he fled from Saul in the cave.
Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me:
for my soul trusteth in thee:
yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge,
until these calamities be overpast.
Light from the Word.
Have you ever had something, and yet failed to claim it?
Yes! We ALL have!
Sometimes we fail to claim the strength of God in our souls
when it is certainly given to us!
Sometimes we fail to claim peace when God has most certainly
promised it in our hearts!
Sometimes, when troubles are severe, we fail to claim God’s
closeness, though He has assured us of it!
The Bible tells us “God is FAITHFUL.” (1Cor. 1:9)
It is by God’s grace that we are “called” into
“the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ.”
We are called into love, communion, nearness with Christ!
We are called, but we must ANSWER!
Our problem is FOCUS!
Like Peter, we allow our focus to be distracted by the storms
of life rather than LOOKING TO the PERSON of life!
We often turn our eyes away from Christ because of persecution.
We often turn our eyes away from Christ because of obsession.
We often turn our eyes away from Christ because of depression.
But if we will scurry to His PRESENCE, the “calamities” shall PASS!
”Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”
(Helen H. Lemmel)
When the storms of life toss you, run to the “shadow of” His “wings!”
Run to the CLOSENESS and NEARNESS of Christ!
He will hold you in His eternal love until the “calamities” are PASSED!
CLAIM His CLOSENESS!
