THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
I was checking in at the airport to go on a mission trip.
When I approached the baggage counter, the clerk asked,
"Sir, has anyone placed anything inside your luggage without your knowledge?"
I smiled and said, "That's a trick question. You only ask that so you can search my luggage."
He asked, "Why do you say that?"
I said, "Well, if anyone put something in my baggage without my knowledge,
I wouldn't KNOW about it. So, obviously, my only honest answer has to be
'I don't know.'"
He said, "Hmm..never looked at it that way. I need to search your luggage."
If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
Mankind is so deeply depraved, that aside from God's revelation, we live in the darkness of sin without even knowing it.
We compare ourselves with others, and excuse our sin.
Morality and decency are only relative matters.
But Jesus came into the world!
He Who is "the Light of the world" (John 8:12) penetrated our darkness.
Now, the standard of morality and decency is elevated.
Now, we have no "cloke" to cover up our sin.
Jesus is the standard.
None of us "measure up."
With His advent, Jesus exposed real sin.
The real sin is rejection of Jesus as God and Savior!
Rejection of Jesus as Lord and Savior is the "sin unto death" (1John 5:16).
The only real answer is for us to shed our "cloke,"
allow Jesus to search our soul,
and surrender to Him as Lord and Savior.
The good news is:
"...as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12)
Have you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
