A man who had been a backslider began attending church
The pastor was elated and spoke to him, "It's wonderful to
see you in church again with your good wife."
The man said, "Well, pastor, it's a matter of choice.
I choose to hear YOUR sermon rather than HERS!"
2 Cor 6:14-18
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial?
or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said,
I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate,
saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and
daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
LIGHT from the WORD.
Notice verse 18.
He is Creator and Sustainer of all there is.
Were it not for Him the sun would not shine, and the moon would
not pull on the oceans to form ebb and flow of the tides.
Think of it dear Christian: were it not for God's vigilance,
your heart would not beat, and you could not breathe!
Yet He is willing to call you His "sons and daughters!"
All of His love, closeness, and provision are just a prayer away
because you are His child through faith in Jesus Christ.
Christ calls you not only to BE His, but to REFLECT His
relationship in your life.
That relationship includes separatism;
"..come out from among them."
We do NOT become separate from others because we are
better than them, because that would reflect pride!
And there is no pride at all in the person who has truly
surrendered to Jesus at the foot of the cross.
There is nothing "good" in the Christian except Jesus!
And were it not for His presence in us, we would be no different
than any other person.
We are different simply because we choose to be
"ambassadors for Christ." (See 2Cor. 5:20)
Our separation ONLY means that we choose to not
participate in the "unclean thing" of the world!
What IS that "unclean thing"?
It is the spiritual attitude of pleasing SELF instead
of living to please GOD!
It is spiritual attitude that LEADS TO physical sin!
For instance, it is the attitude of anger that leads to murder.
It is the attitude of sensual promiscuity that leads to adultery.
It is the attitude of better than others that leads to
Come out from selfish worldliness and live in Christlike
And BE DIFFERENT!!
Be the kind of different that causes others to DESIRE
what you HAVE -- JESUS!
