THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

At age 70, a man bought his first "riding lawn mower."
After his first use of the machine, he was bragging to his son.

"This thing is GREAT!" he said.
"I mowed the whole yard in 2 hours!"
"Why, it used to take your mother 2 DAYS!"

1 Tim 3:14-16
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to
behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels,
preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Paul says that the church is the "house of God."
It is the place where God's people dwell.
The FAMILY room!
It is the place of learning for God's children.

Paul also says that the "church of the Living God" is the PILLAR AND GROUND of truth in the world.
When Christ conceived the church, He Himself ESTABLISHed truth, and purposed that the church would CONTINUE truth in the world.

The church is the second of only two God-formed institutions on earth.
The first institution formed by God was marriage, and thus, the family.
The family and the church are to carry the TRUTH of God.

Verse 16 states the truth that the family and the church are to tell:
1) God was revealed in flesh through Jesus Christ,
2) Christ was justified in the Spirit through His resurrection,
3) Christ was seen of angels,
4) Christ is preached unto the nations,
5) Christ was and is believed by people today,
6) Christ was received into glory by His ascension,
AND,
7) Jesus is surely COMING AGAIN!

My friend, Dr. John Traylor, once expounded upon this verse in a Winter Bible Study.
He said, "Life must be lived in the here and now, looking forward to the there and then."

As Christians, we are to live fulfilling God's purpose in us -
to communicate the truth of Christ to the world.

Love ya!
