DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"CONFESS and Sin LESS"

A little boy had been pawing over a greeting
card rack for some time when a clerk asked,
"Just what is it you're looking for? A birthday
greeting, a message to a sick friend, or
an anniversary card?"

The boy shook his head and answered,
“Got anything for a bad report card?”

__________SCRIPTURE__________

1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.
KJV

__________THOUGHT__________

"Confess," in context here, means we should
openly, but privately state our sin to God and
express sorrow.

God is "faithful" to forgive because He is
ALWAYS true to His promises!

God is "just" to forgive, because He has
ALREADY made atonement for ALL the sins
of mankind.
When Jesus died on that cross, He took ALL
the sins of all men of all time upon Himself.
And, He paid God's blood to God for our
forgiveness.

The word "cleanse" is taken from the Greek
katharizo.
It means to CONTINUE cleansing as we
confess and beg forgiveness.

That reminds me of an earthly example.
I'm old enough to remember Lava soap.
It contained pumice, which is a light weight,
abrasive rock.
One could use the soap until it was reduced
to a very small size, and it KEPT ON
CLEANSING.

BUT - you had to USE it!

God KEEPS ON cleansing when we CONFESS!

The verse is NOT a permission to commit sin.

Remember, Christians are NOT sinless; but
they should sin LESS!

Love ya!
