Some carpenters were at the church remodeling.
They presented a CONFLICT!
Over the front door was a sign that read:
"THIS IS THE GATEWAY TO HEAVEN."
The carpenters had covered that with another sign.
It read: "USE OTHER ENTRANCE!"
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
LIGHT from the WORD.
Have you ever noticed how the Bible presents contrasting
The clean become unclean, and the unclean become clean;
The excluded become included, and the included become excluded;
And, the self-righteous is rejected, while the humble are accepted.
WHY is this?
I believe it is God's way of exposing our human ignorance of
HIS truth and righteousness!
The word "blessed" in our Scripture today is
translated from the Greek makarios.
It means well off, or blissfully happy.
The meaning of blessed is in conflict with persecuted!
The whole OBJECT of our Christianity is to KNOW and LIVE FOR
our Lord Jesus!
In the real Lord's prayer (John 17), Jesus prayed for our JOY!
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world,
that they might have MY JOY fulfilled in themselves.
Christians, you can replace CONFLICT with CONFIDENCE!
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence:
and his children shall have a place of refuge.
If we are “persecuted,” here on earth for our Lord,
we are “blessed” (blissfully happy!)
Because time on earth is SHORT, but heaven is ETERNAL!
Yes, as Christians, we live in CONFLICT with the world!
But, we CAN do so by KNOWING the JOY of our Lord!
