DAILY DEVOTION

HI!

Once, my friend Pat Lofton, said he joked with his daughter
that he and she were in the same profession -
putting people to sleep.

She's a nurse anesthetist.
He's a preacher!

SCRIPTURE______________________________

Luke 14:16-23
16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper,
and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that
were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse.
The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground,
and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen,
and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore
I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things.
Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant,
Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city,
and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt,
and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast
commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways
and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house
may be filled.

THOUGHT________________________________

LIGHT from the WORD.

The offer to have salvation and be in the glorious
heaven of God for eternity is EXCITING!
And it's FREE to ALL!!

Our Lord has prepared a great "supper" for all
those who WILL come. (See Rom. 10:13)
The invitation includes "anyone" who will come. (See Rev. 3:20)
The "supper" is intended to last "for ever." (See Rev. 22:5)

With this in mind, our Lord tells his "servants" to go
"into the highways and hedges, and compel"
others to come in.

YOU and I, Christians, are Christ's "SERVANTS!"

It is our duty then to go and "compel" others to
come into Christ!

Surrendering to Jesus is both:
CHILLING then THRILLING!
It is: FEARFUL then DELIGHTFUL!

When one surrenders to Christ, He begins to CHANGE
them from the INSIDE OUT!

When one surrenders to Christ, He SEALS them in
His HOLY SPIRIT!

When one surrenders to Christ, one begins to look
BEYOND this sin-sick world to ETERNAL GLORY!
With focus there, one lives in HOPE!

I'm afraid too many Christians fall asleep in church.
And, I'm afraid too many Christians with their lacadaisical
lifestyle, lul others to sleep rather than "compelling"
them to come in to Christ!

Don't make the gospel an anesthetic.
Make it a "compelling story!"

Love ya!
