THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The pastor ran into one of his members who had not been attending recently.
He said, "Morris, I haven't seen you in church lately."

Morris said, "Well, preacher there are just too many hypocrites in the church."

The pastor said, "Well, Morris don't let that bother you, there's room for one more."

SCRIPTURE_____________________________________________________

Eph 5:17-21
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

Being "wise" depends upon listening to the Lord because He IS wisdom (vs 17).

God's wisdom directs us to be "filled" with His Spirit (vs 18).

To be "filled" we are to speak to one another in songs of God and give thanks for all He has done and is doing in our lives (vss 19-20).

Hey! That means we are to be in church, encouraging one another and drawing strength from one another!

In Ephesians 1:13, God tells us that we are "sealed in the Spirit" when we are saved.
But we don't always remain FILLED with His Spirit.
The "filling" of God's Spirit in a believer is something that can be repeated many times over. (For instance, see Acts 2:4 and Acts 4:31)

For the believer, being in church is not an option!

We are to be "submitting" ourselves to one another in the reverence of God (vs 21).

Let us set aside the cares of the world long enough to:
show reverence for our Lord,
draw strength from one another,
be encouragers to one another,
by doing CHURCH!

Remember the banana: when it left the bunch, it got SKINNED!

Love ya,
