A young man called his mother and excitedly announced
that he had just met the woman of his dreams.
His mother said, “Why don’t you send her flowers and
invite her to your apartment for a home-cooked meal?”
The day after the big date, his mother called to see how
things had gone.
“Mom, the evening was a complete disaster,”
he replied. “It was horrible!”
“Why, didn’t she come over?” his mother asked.
“Yes she came over. But she refused to cook!"
1 Thess 5:6
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others;
but let us watch and be sober.
LIGHT from the WORD.
Jesus said, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”
The verb tense there is present perfect.
The indication I receive from that is: they never stop!
The Greek word from which “sober” is translated
(nepho) means sober, and also alert.
Christians may be working while: attending social functions,
attending school, or at home.
We should be ever alert to God’s closeness.
Paul said, "Pray without ceasing.” (1Thess. 5:17)
We should also be ever alert and mindful to the principles
and guidance of God’s Word.
“Study to show thyself approved unto God....” (2Tim. 2:15)
Christians, it is our job to tell and teach others of Jesus!
(See Matt. 28:18-20)
Let's do our job!
