THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A businessman was being interviewed as a prospective juror.
Prosecutor: “Is there any reason why you could not serve as a juror in this case?”
Businessman: “My job....I don’t want to be away from the office that long.”
Judge (intervening): “Can’t they get along without you at the office?”
Businessman: “Yes, sir. But I don’t want them to KNOW it!”
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him,
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
What ever happened to DUTY?
In the Scripture above, Jesus equates continued study in the Bible with salvation.
A true disciple of Christ WILL determinedly and continually study the Bible.
That’s because, if we’re genuinely saved, God’s indwelling Holy Spirit inspires us to DUTY!
No, sometimes I don’t FEEL like studying.
But I DO!
And God is not disappointed when I study from a sense of DUTY!
There are many truths in the Bible.
But there is only One REAL truth – Jesus.
And the only way to get a full view of God’s revelation of Jesus is through Bible study.
Do you think Jesus went to the cross because he FELT like it?
No. He went because of DUTY!
He created us, and allowed us freedom of will which caused us to sin.
As our Creator, He went to the cross to purchase us out of the slavery of sin.
He willingly performed His DUTY!
As Christians, we may not always FEEL like: praying, Bible study, attending, giving, or telling others about Jesus.
But we should DO it anyway.
It’s our DUTY!
