Do BAD Things Happen To GOOD People?

Do you recall the story about the blind man in John 9:1-3?

The disciples wanted to know WHO had sinned to cause the blindness.
Was it the blind man, or was it his parents?

But Jesus said the man was born blind that "the works of God
should be made manifest in him."
(John 9:3)

Job 4:1-8
1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved?
but who can withhold himself from speaking?
3 Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened
the weak hands.
4 Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast
strengthened the feeble knees.
5 But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth
thee, and thou art troubled.
6 Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness
of thy ways?
7 Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent?
or where were the righteous cut off?
8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness,
reap the same.

Light from the Word.

Was Job a RIGHTEOUS man?
Yes. God said so Himself. Job 1:8

But BAD things happened to Job.
It was a test.....a 3-way test!

First, Job was tested in his faith.
He needed to learn that God would stand by him,
even in the most troubled times.

Second, Satan was tested in his assumed wisdom.
He needed to learn that whom God has chosen,
Satan CANNOT steal!!

Third, Job's friends were tested in their self-proclaimed wisdom.
They needed to learn that just because a bad thing happened
to someone, it doesn't mean that person was being sinful.

Job's friends were arrogant and haughty, pointing accusing
fingers at him with their speeches.
But their so-called wisdom didn't take into account ALL that was

God vindicated Job, and gave back MORE than Job had in the
first place!

THAT'S why we need to be kind to one another, and encourage
one another.

Remember, we humans cannot see the WHOLE picture.
When people hit bad spots in their lives,
don't accuse -- encourage and help!

Love ya!
