BRUCE MCGEE MINISTRIES
The ONE time I tried to run from my dad, he caught me.
Then, he spanked me thoroughly for the wrong I had done.
And, he told me, "You can't run fast enough nor far enough
to get away from me."
1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their
wickedness is come up before me.
3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the
LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish:
so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto
Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
LIGHT from the WORD.
The lesson of Jonah's experience is DON'T RUN FROM GOD!
Perhaps you're running from God today because:
*You have a sin you enjoy and don't want to be confronted about it;
*You are just "too busy" to study the Bible and pray daily;
*You're trying to avoid God's calling to a certain service;
*Or, you're afraid you'll FAIL at what God wants you to do.
But, to WHERE can you run?
You can't run fast enough nor far enough to get away from God!
God's spiritual presence is EVERYWHERE!
His Spirit is convicting, calling for contrition.
His Spirit is convincing, calling for commitment.
Jonah tried to run, and found himself in the belly of a whale!
THINK of the consequences of running from God!
Don't run FROM God,
Run TO Him!
