DAILY DEVOTION

HI!

Bro. Shane Duke shared an example once.

It was about a shepherd he had seen trying to get his
sheep into the fold for the evening.

It was not quite dark, and the sheep were still thinking about
the green grass as the shepherd called them toward the fold.

They would look back at the field, then look at the gate behind
the shepherd.
Finally 4 or 5 of the sheep came in to the fold.

The difficulty began for the shepherd when the few that did
come in to the fold just stood there in the entrance,
effectively blocking it.

SCRIPTURE______________________________

Luke 14:16-23
16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great
supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them
that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse.
The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground,
and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen,
and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore
I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things.
Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant,
Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring
in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast
commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the
highways and hedges, and compel them to come in,
that my house may be filled.

THOUGHT________________________________

LIGHT from the WORD.

The Bible teaches us salvation is offered to ALL mankind.
God has prepared a "great supper" for ALL
who will come! (See Rev. 19:9)

That supper is for ANYONE who will open their hearts
and let Jesus come in to be LORD of their lives. (See Rev. 3:20)

That supper is intended to last for ETERNITY!
(See Rev. 22:5)

Our "good Shepherd" tells his "servant" to go
"into the highways and hedges, and compel" others to come in.
We Christians are God's "servants."

Sometimes Christians block the doorway by standing
idly in the door of salvation....doing NOTHING!

Sometimes Christians block the doorway by using
"liberty" as a "cloak of maliciousness!"
(See 1Pet. 2:16)
They wrap themselves tightly in legality and
self righteousness and become aloof!

Sometimes Christians block the doorway with a
lackadaisical attitude!
They become so intent with their own salvation, they
are uncaring about others.

KEEP the doorway OPEN!!
COMPEL others to "come in!

Love ya!
