THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
"I have a daughter who goes to SMU. She could’ve gone to UCLA here in California, but it’s one more letter she’d have to remember."
- Shecky Greene
9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
God has "sent redemption unto His people."
God's love for people is the reason Jesus came to redeem us from the slavery of sin (Romans 5:8).
God eternally stands by His commitment to save WHOSOEVER will come to Him (John 3:16, Romans 10:13).
God has shown the power of His redemption thrugh the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord (Rom. 8:11).
The power to bring back a dead body to life also brings the soul "dead in sins" back to life in holiness with God!
Therefore, the name JESUS is "holy," or SACRED.
Also, His name is "reverend," or to be feared.
Jesus' name should be held as "holy and reverend" among men.
OH! How I despise to hear Jesus' holy name used in vanity and profanity!
Such use depicts no REVERENCE for God.
Jesus is "LORD!"
The word "LORD" (in our text above) is translated from "Yehovah," which means self-existent, eternal and holy God.
And it is the "reverence" for Jesus that is the "beginning of wisdom."
There's a BIG difference between education and wisdom!
True wisdom BEGINS with acknowledging Jesus as LORD!
