THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Joey had been misbehaving, and Mom sent him to his room.
A few minutes later, he came out and informed Mom,
"I said a prayer."
Mom said, "That's good Joey. Asking God to help you not misbehave will help."
Joey said, "Well, I asked God to help you put up with me."
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day ;
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
"Exhort," in the above Scripture is a word meaning: call near, encourage, comfort.
The word "daily" implies continued and close fellowship.
As human beings, we all need encouragement.
And, we can choose to be an encourager.
As we encourage one another, we may have a part in detouring someone from "the deceitfulness of sin."
However, we must not sacrifice truth to please "itching ears." (2Tim 4:3)
Sometimes we must be firm in the encouragement, "speaking the truth in love." (Eph 4:15)
With personal self-discipline, we may help others to find “the acknowledging of the truth.” (2Tim 2:25)
And, they may with repentance turn from “the snare of the devil.” (2Tim 2:26)
Daily the world throws stones at us, and at our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Let us use those stones to build bridges of encouragement in the Truth of God.
And, pray that your brothers and sisters in Christ will be able to “put up with” YOU too!
