Today's Devotion:
"EXERCISING GRACE"
A lady working in a large manufacturing
company took her coffee break.
She got some coffee and a little package
of cookies.
There weren't any empty tables in the break
room, so she sat down at one occupied by
only one man.
He was reading a newspaper.
She put her coffee on the table, opened her
purse and got a magazine to read.
As she sipped her coffee, she reached for a
cookie, and noticed that the man was reaching
for a cookie too.
In a few moments, she unconsciously reached
for another cookie, and noticed that the man
was reaching for another.
Later, as she reached for the last cookie, the
man smiled, folded his newspaper and left.
Now she was angry.
He'd eaten half of her cookies and never even
said thank you.
Well, the coffee break was ruined, so she
got ready to go back to work.
So she folded her magazine and started to put
it in her purse.
WUPS!!! There were her cookies!
She'd actually been eating HIS cookies, and
he never even said a word.
That's GRACE!
_______SCRIPTURE____________
2Pet. 1:2-4
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through
the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto
us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us
to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and
precious promises: that by these ye might be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
MERCY is the attribute of God that allows us to
ESCAPE the condemnation for our sin.
GRACE is the attribute of God that allows us to
RECEIVE salvation, which we didn't deserve.
In the illustration above, the man was exercising
grace by not saying anything when the lady was
eating his cookies.
In the Scripture above, we are told that when we
PARTAKE of God's grace we should also be
EXERCISING grace, because that exhibits the
fact that we are "partakers of the Divine
nature!"
NUFF SAID?!
Love ya!
