THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

It is said that there are three ages of men.

YOUTH: when we strive to reach the point of independence and self-support.
MIDDLE AGE: when we strive to reach the point of independence in retirement.
OLDER: when we lie to each other and say, "You haven't changed a bit!"

Isaiah 51:1-3
1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD:
look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you:
for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places;
and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD;
joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Every Word of God is pertinent, in some way, to Christians today.

God told Israel to "look unto the rock from whence ye are hewn..."
In their beginnings, Israel was literally ripped out of the rock of idolatry.
The "hole of the pit" from which they came was deep, reaching to eternal condemnation!
God had called Abram out of Ur, where idolatry was prominent.

God literally brought them from one barren family, to become a huge nation.
Blessed of God in every way, the nation became tremendously prosperous.

But, as generations passed, they turned from God back to the "rock!"
God disciplined them by allowing their captivity.
They lost their land and their influence in the world.

But, here in these verses, God promises to "make her wilderness like Eden!"
He promised the restoration of "Zion," which is those who "Hearken to" God, and "follow after righteousness."

Christians, WE are the "Israel" of today!
By His grace, we were literally ripped out of the "rock" of idolatry!
By His grace, we were literally snatched out of the "pit" which leads to hell!
But we are saved to stand securely upon The ROCK, Christ our Lord!

Nations have tried to discount the truth of Christ's death, burial and resurrection; but Christianity keeps producing and multiplying.
When those who "follow after righteousness" in Christ pay attention to God, He will bless with the abundance of grace!

We have been changed, brought under the blood of Christ, sealed in His Spirit and taught by the Word of God.
Let us EXHIBIT THAT CHANGE!

Love ya!
