I remember, when I was store manager for a large grocery chain, canned beans being $.19 each.
(Yes, that was a LONG time ago – 38 years.)

I bought 200 cases of those beans, and made a large attractive end display.

The sign on the display said, “5/$100”!

My boss, a mathematically inclined man, asked, “What’s all THAT about?”

I told him, “It’s dressing expensiveness in inexpensive clothing.”

Luke 4:18-19
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Make no mistake, “the acceptable year of the Lord” is EXPENSIVE!
Because the purchase of that “year” (or time) was made by the blood of God paid to God for the benefit of man!

In the Scripture above, Jesus actually utilized two Scriptures from Isaiah’s prophecy (Isaiah 61:1, and Isaiah 42:7).
Isaiah 61:1, says, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”
Isaiah 42:7 says, “To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.”

BOTH of those Scriptures are statements made by Isaiah FOR God.
The Lord God of the Old Testament was speaking about HIMSELF!

Jesus’ statement “THIS DAY is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears” tells us:
that the Jesus of the New Testament IS the Jehovah of the Old Testament!

The expensiveness of justified salvation is clothed in the inexpensiveness of the Person of Jesus Christ!

ONLY God can:
“heal” those who are broken in heart because of sin,
bring “deliverance” (justified salvation) to those enchained by sin,
bring “sight” to lives blinded by sin,
give “liberty” to those beaten down by sin.

This age, this time, right now is “the acceptable year of the Lord.”
It is the age of grace, the age of God’s compassionate kindness.
It is the age when God accepts men because of the price HE paid!

If you are HIS, you are “anointed” to “preach” that GOOD NEWS!

2 Cor 5:20-21 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Love ya!
