THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

My friend (who is a democrat) and I were going fishing.
We stopped at a little store to purchase some live bait.
Beside the store, a young boy had a box with some puppies for sale.

My friend asked whimsically if the puppies were democrat or republican.
The boy assured him they were democrat.
My friend grinned knowingly at me.

The next week, we came by the same store.
The boy was still there selling his puppies.

My friend again asked whimsically if the puppies were democrat or republican.
The boy said, "Republican."
My friend said, "But last week you said they were democrat!"

The boy answered, "Yes, sir. But now they have their eyes OPEN!"

Ps 73:22-23
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

The psalmist acknowledges that before having surrendered himself to God, he had no comprehension concerning the Truth of life.

"So FOOLISH was I," or brutish; base: without wisdom of right and righteousness.
"And IGNORANT," or lacking proper recognition of truth.
"I was as a BEAST before thee," or as cattle: not having understanding.

But he has made a commitment to be "continually" with God.
He has surrendered self, willing to become a servant of God.

And God has "holden," or SEIZED him!
God seized his "right hand," or his POWER!

Before we met Christ, we were base, common, without understanding of life.
But when we met and surrendered to Christ, He "seized" us!
He "sealed" us in His Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13).
He, Who is the "light" of life (John 1:4) "opened" the eyes of our "understanding"
(Luke 24:45).

And, praise God, NOW He "guide(s)" us with "His counsel!"
He DIRECTS our living by His Word.

His seizing and direction shall have the result of "receiv(ing)" us to "glory!"
We shall be brought into His ETERNAL presence!

Praise God for His FAITHFULNESS!
He CONVICTED us of our sin.
He CONVINCED us of Jesus being the ONLY Savior.
He COMPELLED us to surrender to Him.
Then He CONTRACTED to complete our salvation by bringing us to His heaven!

Love ya,
Bruce
