DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"Expectations Mean A LOT"

In a cartoon was pictured two Eskimos fishing
through holes in the ice.
One had a hole the size you’d expect to see.
Another had his line in an enormous hole, in
the shape of a whale!

Expectations mean a LOT!

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

The word "Blessed" is translated from the Greek
makarios, meaning fortunate or blissfully happy.

In the "B-attitudes," the word "Blessed" expresses
a CHARACTERISTIC of a person who is DOING
something.

The words "hunger and thirst" relate a strong
DESIRE!
A desire for food will drive us to receive food.
A desire for water will drive us to receive water.

One cannot have satisfaction of receiving
something, unless he is first SEEKING it!

"They which do hunger and thirst after righteousness,"
is reflective of those who realize they have no
righteousness of themselves (Isaiah 64:6).
However, they have a Spirit-led desire to be LIKE Christ
in perfect righteousness.

We realize that while living in this present world we
cannot BE perfect, but our goal is to "be ye therefore
perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

(Matthew 5:48)
The reward of seeking this goal is to know that one day
we will be FILLED with the righteousness of Christ Himself.
(2Corinthians 5:21)

If we hunger for fish, we are driven to go fishing.

Are you EXPECTING righteousness from God?
Be DRIVEN toward it!

Expectations mean a LOT!

Love ya!
