There was a new man working on the road crew, and every day
he had a question for the foreman.
“When am I going to get a shovel?"

But the foreman only used this new man to carry water to the others.

The fourth day, the man asked again,
"When am I going to get a shovel?"

The foreman asked, "Why do you want a shovel? You're being paid."

The man said, "Yeah. But everyone else has something to lean on!"

Eph 1:12-14
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory,
who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of
the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Light from the Word.

All of us Christians are like that new man on the road crew:
we need something to lean on!
And we need something to work with!

Faith is that something.

Faith is received by surrender to Christ as Lord.
We are saved "by" grace, but we continue on "through" faith.

How important is it to "have," possess and use
"the earnest of our inheritance" which is faith?

Faith is like a shovel.
It is a gift to be used!
Faith is not "of" works, but it certainly is to be used "for" work in Christ.

The Christian can lean on faith!
The Christian can also work with faith!
For you see, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for..."
(Hebrews 11:1)

So, Christians, let's don't act like we've been sealed in ritualistic,
legalistic pickle juice!
You have a “shovel” – WORK with it!

Let's live "to the praise of His glory"!
Because He has sealed us "with that Holy Spirit of promise"!

Love ya!
