Today's Devotion:
"FICTIONAL or FACTUAL"
In the SATIRE portion of Worthy Ministries,
a new headline appeared.
"Small Town Reports Sudden Weight Gain
After Dunkin' Factory Fills Air With 1Million
Donuts' Worth of Smell Per Day."
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Matt. 7:3-5
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is
in thy brother's eye, but considerest not
the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let
me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and,
behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam
out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou
see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy
brother's eye.

_______THOUGHT______________
Of course the lead line in the satirical
joke above is fiction.
But it leads to a point:
The traditional "news" media is more
fictional than factual!
In the Bible, Jesus used satire to point
out TRUTH.
The word "mote" is from the Greek karphos.
It can mean small twig or straw.
The word "beam" is from the Greek dokos,
meaning a long timber.
Judgmentalism is the truth here.
Certainly, we ALL have a little cloudiness
in our perspective toward others.
Jesus called that "hypocrite," or dissembler.
It means one who pretends to be, but really
IS NOT!
Let me just say that criticism of others
does not LIFT the esteem of the one who
is doing the criticising.
In fact, it causes the REVERSE!
If it is not backed up by FACT, then it is
FICTION!
Love ya!
