THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
On the 1st of 2018, I will make a resolution to shave
at least 3 times per week.
And, I will make a resolution to keep to that resolution
for at least one week.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ
have put on Christ.
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the
glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not
provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
LIGHT from the WORD.
In Gal. 3:27 above, the subject is physical baptism.
Grammatically, the statement is you "have put on Christ"
because you indicated it by being "baptized INTO Christ."
In Rom. 6:4 above, the subject is spiritual baptism.
When we surrender to Christ, the first gift we receive is His Holy Spirit.
We submit to burying our old person IN Christ, and by His Spirit,
we are “raised” to a NEW life of living FOR Christ.
This is a work done BY God’s Holy Spirit IN a surrendered
believer in Christ.
Now, the subject of Rom. 13:14 (above) is RESOLVE,
not a resolution.
This determination provides the ability to put away the inordinate
desires of sensuality, and live in spiritual sensitivity.
I said all that to say this:
The statement of a resolution indicates a person’s
RESOLVE to do something.
So in 2018, those of you who have surrendered to Christ,
resolve to put MORE of Him on and in you.
