This idol of self that I have known,
'Tis folly indeed before Thee.
Tear it Lord from my heart, Thy throne,
That I may worship only Thee.

Jer 16:20
Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?

We laugh at those who worship an idol of stone or wood.
They are idols fashioned by man's imaginations.

Yet, many Christians would fashion the Lord of the cross with their own imaginations.
Some want salvation without devotion.
Some want justification without sanctification.
Some want miracles without daily communion.
Some want truth without the work of Bible study.
And, all want commitment of love from God without commitment of love to God!

We all want to be "in charge" of who we are.
We desire that God would make us:
what we WANT to be, rather than what HE wants us to be!

Crucifixion of self is difficult for us to do.
Yet it is the ONLY way to Christ. (Luke 9:23, Galatians 2:20)

When we surrender "self" to Christ, amazing things happen on the inside!
We are made "new creatures" to be fashioned after Christ. (2Corinthians 5:17)
We know the joy of His forgiveness and acceptance. (John 1:12, 1John 3:1)
We know the constant presence of our Lord. (John 14:26, Ephesians 1:13)

Also, when we surrender "self" to Christ, amazing things happen on the outside!
We have genuine care for others who do not know Christ. (2Corinthians 5:20)
We have a sincere appreciation for those who have surrendered to Christ. (John 13:35)
These things are exhibited in our daily life. (James 1:22-25)

Let us daily be given TO Christ, that we may be ministers FOR Christ!

Love ya!
