THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

John & Mary (10 & 8 years old respectively) were visiting with Grandma in the country for a couple weeks.
John got a new slingshot, fashioned by Grandpa's own hands.
He hadn't learned how to use it yet, but was giving it a try.
Grandma's duck waddled by, and John took a venturous shot.
He hit the duck in the head!
The duck squiggled around on the ground for awhile, then died.

John was so ashamed!
He went and hid the duck in the woods.
But Mary, his little sister, had seen what happened.

That night at supper, Grandma said, "Ok, Mary, it's your turn to help me with the dishes."
Mary said, "Oh, Grandmother, John said he would like to help you with that."

John willingly helped Grandma to keep Mary from telling about the duck.
But the next morning, his conscience was really bothering him.
He went in while Grandma was having her coffee and told her about it.

She said, "I know, son. I saw what happened from the kitchen window.
I was just wondering how long you were going to let Mary hold it over your head."

Our heavenly Father WATCHES us!
"From the place of his habitation" He keeps an intent and attentive eye and ear to all that we do!

Can you imagine God, stooping from His Holy Throne, to watch over us and attend to our needs?
Can you imagine God, bending intently, to hear our prayers and give answer?

This is the picture painted by the words of the Psalmist.
God is intently and attentively watching and caring for His children.

Psalm 103:13 says, "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him."
He knows every difficulty, every sorrow.
And He watches closely to give aid.
He knows every joy, every moment of happiness.
And He smiles as we praise Him for those moments.

Your every whispered prayer captures His attention!
They are not only able to capture His heart with compassion, but move His hand to action!

God's desire is to give you strength when you need it.
2 Chronicles 16:9 says, "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him."

Remember to pause several times today and thank God for His intent attentive care!

Love ya!
