Sam had been “testy” all day.
Finally, Mom sent him to his room.
She told him, “You go to your room and STAY! And, while you
are there, you better PRAY; and ask God to make you a better boy!”
Sam went to his room and knelt by his bed.
For a long time, he didn’t say anything.
Finally, he said, “God, if You can’t make me a better boy, don’t
worry about it. I’m having fun just like I am!”
LIGHT from the WORD.
I'm afraid most Christians are like the little boy above.
We WANT to be better, but we're having too much fun
being as we ARE.
The goal of every parent is for their children to GROW UP;
To become mature adults making right decisions.
And, that's why we TEACH them.
God's goal for Christians is also that they GROW UP;
To become mature Christians making right decisions.
God wants our hearts to be FILLED with Christ.
God desires that we “grow up into Him (Christ)!”
And, that we grow up into Christ “in ALL things!”
When we are saved, we are born again.
We are made new spiritually, and need to GROW UP!
And our textbook from God says,
“As newborn babes, DESIRE the sincere milk of the word,
that ye may GROW thereby:” (1Pet. 2:2)
Sometimes, we get caught up in “having fun” just like we are.
And, we forget to GROW UP!
Christian, how's your MATURITY coming?
