"Give Them That LOOK"
When I was a kid in chuch it was
a different era. (1940 - 1950)
Dads and moms actually took
their children to church!
And the children actually sat
with the parents!
Also, I remember, if I got to
fidgeting, my dad would reach
around my mom and THUMP
me right behind my ear!

a backbiting tongue.

Also, if Dad caught my eye, he
would give me that LOOK!
That LOOK would STOP me
from whatever I was doing!
So, I learned, that if I became
a little bored with the service,
I would just pull out my Bible
and start READING!
I found out something.
When you actually start
READING the Bible, you can
find some very INTERESTING
information!
The backbiting tongue speaks
deceitfully and secretly.
In the 21st century language
it is called covert speech, or
"GOSSIP!"
The Bible teaches: "Thou shalt
NOT go up and down as a
talebearer among thy people..."
(Lev. 19:16)
So, if we look closely at
Prov. 25:23, we see that gossip
can be STOPPED with just a
LOOK!
It is sort of like Dad, not saying
a word, but just giving me that
LOOK!
If more Christians would actually
DO this, a lot of gossip would be
stopped before it really got
started!
